CATAG UK Ltd — Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 12 January 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the booking of, and participation in, CATAG game events operated by CATAG UK Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By making a booking, the individual making that booking (“the Booker”) enters into a legally binding contract with CATAG UK Ltd on behalf of themselves and all participants (“Participants”). Please read these Terms carefully before booking.

1. Who We Are

CATAG UK Ltd
Registered in England and Wales
Company number: 16906708
Registered address: Station View House, 41 Brunswick Rd, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 5WA
Email: hello@catag.co.uk

2. Definitions

  • Booker: The individual who makes and pays for the booking.

  • Participants: All individuals taking part in the Event, including the Booker.

  • Event: A hosted, in-person CATAG game experience organised and supervised by CATAG UK Ltd.

  •

3. Acceptance of These Terms

By completing a booking, the Booker confirms that they:

  • Have authority to accept these Terms on behalf of all Participants, and

  • Have ensured that all Participants are aware of, and agree to comply with, these Terms.

These Terms apply from the point of booking and remain in effect for the duration of the Event.

4. What You Are Booking

CATAG UK Ltd provides hosted, in-person outdoor game events organised and supervised by trained Game Masters.

When you book an Event, you are purchasing:

  • The organisation and facilitation of a CATAG game,

  • On-site supervision by a Game Master,

  • Safety briefings and rule enforcement, and

  • The coordination of gameplay within a defined public area.

The Event involves light physical activity, awareness of surroundings, and movement through public spaces.

5. Nature of the Service & Use of the App

The CATAG Event is a recreational service, not a software product.

Gameplay uses the CATAG mobile application as a gameplay tool. The application is provided under licence by its developers. CATAG UK Ltd does not own the application and does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Temporary technical issues may occur, including server availability, GPS accuracy, or mobile network coverage.

  • Where a material disruption is caused by server-side issues, the Booker will be offered a free rebooking.

  • Issues arising from individual devices, operating systems, GPS accuracy, or mobile network connectivity — except for a widespread network outage — do not entitle the Booker to a refund or rebooking.

  •

6. Public Environment & Road Crossings

Events take place in public spaces which are not owned or controlled by CATAG UK Ltd.

Events may require Participants to cross live carriageways or shared-use areas. All such crossings are risk-assessed in advance and clearly identified during the pre-game safety briefing.

Participants must:

  • Follow all traffic rules, and

  • Follow all instructions given by the Game Master.

CATAG UK Ltd cannot control members of the public, temporary obstacles, or environmental conditions inherent to public spaces.

7. Booking Authority, Group Size & Attendance

The Booker is the sole contracting customer and enters into this contract on behalf of all Participants.

Events are priced on a per-player basis and must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

  • A minimum of 10 players is required per booking.

  • Bookings relate to a number of Participants, not named individuals. Player substitutions are permitted provided all eligibility requirements are met.

  • The number of players booked is final. No refunds, credits, or price adjustments will be provided for no-shows, late arrivals, or early departures.

If fewer than the minimum number attend, CATAG UK Ltd may proceed with a modified format or cancel at its discretion. Where an Event proceeds, no refund or rebooking will be provided on this basis.

8. Age Requirements

Participation is limited to individuals aged 16 years and over.

Participants aged 16 or 17 may only take part if accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over, who must remain present for the entire Event and is responsible for the supervision and conduct of the minor.

Game Masters do not act in a parental or supervisory role for Participants under 18.

9. Fitness, Health, Alcohol & Drugs

Participants must be fit and able to take part in light outdoor physical activity.

Participants must not take part if they:

  • Have a medical condition affecting mobility, balance, or awareness,

  • Are advised not to undertake physical activity, or

  • Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The consumption of alcohol or drugs during the Event is not permitted. The Game Master may refuse participation or remove any Participant who appears impaired, without refund.

10. Safety, Conduct & Game Master Authority

Safety is paramount.

Participants must:

  • Follow all reasonable instructions given by the Game Master,

  • Behave responsibly and respectfully in public spaces, and

  • Take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.

The Game Master has final authority on all safety and operational decisions and may issue instructions, modify gameplay, pause or end the Event, or remove Participants where necessary.

11. Phone Use, Road Safety & Public Interaction

For safety reasons:

  • Participants must stop moving when using their phone, and

  • Must not use phones while crossing roads.

Gameplay does not involve photographing, chasing, or interacting with members of the public. Participants must not obstruct, harass, or interfere with non-participants.

Failure to comply may result in removal from the Event without refund.

12. Removal Without Refund

CATAG UK Ltd may remove any Participant, or end an Event early, without refund or rebooking where behaviour is unsafe, abusive, unlawful, intoxicated, or non-compliant with instructions.

The Booker remains responsible for all Participants removed under this section.

13. Cancellations by the Customer

If the Booker cancels:

  • More than 72 hours before the Event: Free rebooking only (no refund).

  • Within 72 hours: No refund, credit, or rebooking.

Rebooking credits must be used within 3 months of the original Event date.

14. Cancellations by CATAG UK Ltd & Weather

CATAG UK Ltd may cancel where weather is unsafe, no suitable Game Master is available, or operational or safety issues arise.

Where CATAG UK Ltd cancels, the Booker may choose between a full refund or free rebooking.

CATAG UK Ltd operates a structured weather assessment process, including advance weather data review and a local Game Master assessment. Wherever possible, a go / no-go decision will be made no later than 3 hours before the Event start time.

Weather decisions are final.

If an Event is paused or ended early for safety or weather reasons, no refund, credit, or rebooking will be provided.

CATAG UK Ltd may, at its discretion, offer goodwill remedies without obligation.

15. Photography & Media

Gameplay involves Participants photographing other Participants using their own devices for in-game scoring.

Participants may share their own gameplay content publicly, provided it is lawful, non-defamatory, non-harassing, and not for commercial use.

Game Masters may offer to take a group photo using a Participant’s device. CATAG UK Ltd does not retain or use such images without explicit consent.

16. Personal Belongings

Participants are responsible for their own belongings at all times.

A Game Master may, as a courtesy only, keep watch over items placed nearby. CATAG UK Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings.

17. Liability & Insurance

CATAG UK Ltd will provide Events with reasonable care and skill.

Events take place in public environments involving inherent and variable risks. Participants take part subject to these inherent risks, while CATAG UK Ltd remains responsible for reasonable organisation and supervision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CATAG UK Ltd is not liable for:

  • Loss or damage to personal belongings,

  • Losses arising from Participant negligence or misconduct, or

  • Indirect or consequential losses.

CATAG UK Ltd’s total liability for any claim (other than death or personal injury caused by negligence) is limited to the total amount paid for the Event.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or statutory consumer rights.

CATAG UK Ltd maintains, or will maintain prior to Events, appropriate public liability insurance.

18. Complaints

Complaints must be submitted in writing within 14 days of the Event date to hello@catag.co.uk, including booking reference and details.

19. Changes

CATAG UK Ltd may make reasonable changes to Events for safety or operational reasons. The version of these Terms in force at the time of booking applies.

20. Third-Party Rights

No third party has any right to enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

21. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
